“Apple fined for slowing down old iPhones”

I pride myself on being savvy about these things. But I must now admit that, I, too, have been the victim of a scam. In the modern, throw-away clothing world, it’s ‘phones, not old jumpers and shorts that are handed down in larger families. So the child (well, almost-adult) at the bottom of the pecking order ends up with the oldest Apple product. What sort of parent would I have been for not taking seriously their claims that their ancient iPhone was slower than the proverbial ox cart? I, of course upgraded them. Thanks, Mr Mac. A firm with whom we work did advise British Steel workers, was as a result given a thorough going-over and thankfully a clean bill of health by the regulator. Then the FCA were themselves given a thorough going-over by MPs and in the press, over their inaction while the bad advice that was given was being given.
