Of course, the fact that Apple is the largest company of all time has a lot to do with the value of money. The biggest grossing film of all time Avatar (yes, I know), took £2.8bn at the box office; but ‘Gone with the Wind’s £344m, adjusted for inflation, knocks it into a cocked hat. It’s extraordinary, however, that Apple is worth more than the GDP of 92% of the countries in the world (and might do a better job of running some of them). Will it still be around in 30 years? Quite likely. Chances are you or your kids will be driving an Apple rather than a Merc by then.
