“Brexit has boosted UK tourism says tourist office”

Oct 6, 2017 | United Kingdom

“Since Britain voted to say goodbye to the European Union we have seen the biggest rise in American tourists coming to the UK since the Eighties. The past six months have seen a 25 per cent increase in visitors from North America compared to the first half of last year”

Hello. Not Brexit, but old-fashioned devaluation. Mature readers may remember the golden days of American tourism: doing the UK via London/The Cotswolds/Stratford-upon-Avon. Then straight on to Scotland (sorry, north of Watford, but who can blame them). And it’s back. Will it make us richer than the rest of Europe or is it only happening because we’re becoming the poor men of Europe? Jury’s out, I’d say.
