The new ‘outward-looking Britain’ has to negotiate trade deals with China, India and ‘our Commonwealth friends. If I was on the other side of the table, knowing, for a change, I held a few cards, I think an easing of UK immigration rules for my citizens as Britain’s important new trading partners might be right up there on the agenda. Another way in which Brexit may take us back to the halcyon days of the 1950s and ’60s.
