I can’t work out quite why they want to have a TV face-off. Persuading we punters to support them won’t make any difference to what’s going to happen, and is more likely to encourage rather than prevent French-style street action. Showing who’s hardest won’t help much with the MPs who are their current problem; or opportunity, depending on which side that other Great Divide you stand.
