I (really) hate to say it, but for once Boris is right. My daughter’s first reaction to hearing about this lady was ‘Is blasphemy still a thing?’, then, ‘She was sentenced to death???’. Asia Bibi sat on death row for 8 years in Pakistan and has finally been freed. We, however, have refused her asylum, presumably to avoid upsetting an ally and potential future trading partner; in much the same way that we’ve barely wagged a finger at the Saudis for openly bumping off Khashoggi.
