“Car and house insurance faces price probe”

Apparently, the FCA is investigating  why car and house insurance is often cheaper for new customers  while you pay more stick with the same company. Well. There should be bigger fish to fry for the government’s army of regulators.

In the days of Retail Price Maintenance (kids ask your grandparents), a can of Coke or a jar of Marmite cost the same wherever you bought it. Nowadays, just because I’m a loyal Waitrose customer or happen to live closer to an M&S than an Aldi, I could end up paying a lot more than I should be for my truffle oil or or tahini. Is that treating customers fairly? I don’t think so. Something should be done.
