Council tax hikes planned ‘across England’

How can this be when our government says there will be a ‘real term increase in resources over the next two years’ for local authorities? Imagine if you ran your household budget like this government:

‘We need to get little Mandy an new blazer and school shoes’ ‘Sorry, we’ve already spent record amounts on educational clothing in this academic year’

’The car needs two new tyres’ ’No, the automotive budget has seen above inflation increases since 2015 and further funding is not available’

‘Are we having a holiday this year?’ ‘We must focus on reducing our deficit and making provision for the effects of Brexit’.

They’re hoping to last another four years. Don’t think I’d make six months.
