The ease and skill with which different companies in our business have adapted to a life of online home-working has varied considerably. The already-paper-free (True Potential) moved seamlessly and overnight. Some have adapted within a week or so. Others have pretty much ground to a halt, stopped taking calls and hiked their turnaround times to ‘when this is all over’. They’ll probably survive, despite everything, as they’re the dinosaurs with the biggest pockets. But let’s hope some lessons are learned. Remember what eventually happened to the dinosaurs?

Are workers working from home more or less productive than those catching the 7.02am to London Bridge every day? ‘Probably sitting at home in their bleedin’ jim-jams’, said someone recently of a less-than-helpful call centre employee, the assumption being that, were they surrounded by colleagues and with a manager cracking the whip, he or she would have sorted his energy bill more efficiently.
