You always have to wonder, with both Boris and Trump, whether the c—k up or conspiracy theory should apply. Is he assuming, quite correctly, that no Extinction Rebellion supporter would dream of voting for him, however nice to them he might be? And that in what Jeremy Clarkson describes as ‘homes for retired Brexiteers in Eastbourne’ and other Tory strongholds, dislike of crusty hippies outweighs concerns about climate change? Or does his mouth work quicker than his brain? Probs the latter…

Are workers working from home more or less productive than those catching the 7.02am to London Bridge every day? ‘Probably sitting at home in their bleedin’ jim-jams’, said someone recently of a less-than-helpful call centre employee, the assumption being that, were they surrounded by colleagues and with a manager cracking the whip, he or she would have sorted his energy bill more efficiently.
