I’ve said it before, but it won’t stop me saying it again. Why issue warnings about high risk and potentially dodgy investments? The punters will take more notice, every time, of an ad offering super-duper returns than they will of a notice from the regulator. Only allow properly-regulated investments to be advertised; put the onus on anyone accepting cash for the ads to check if they’re kosher. Not rocket science. But then neither, many would say, are decisions about Brexit.
