House of Fraser has finally had to admit that the ‘Are You Being Served’ department store has become as anachronistic as the high-street hardware shop or Mr Hodges’ greengrocers. My under-30s family aren’t computer geeks, but will only hit the high street in desperation if Amazon can’t deliver whatever they want in time.

And interestingly, the other news this week was that Amazon will be showing Premiership football next season. They can afford this, not from your kids’ online shopping (it actually makes them a loss), but from Amazon Web Services, which powers The (online) Cloud for us and most of the world; and is hugely profitable.
