Many seem terrified at the prospect of a Labour government. ‘Anything but Corbyn’ is a refrain I’ve heard from many a client, and not just the Telegraph and Mail readers. The lesson of history, though, is that we’ve had many of our finest hours under Labour governments: the Atlee NHS, Swinging London, 1966, Britpop; and government spending does boost the economy. So is there really so much to fear? Yes, there’ll be a hangover; but the Thatcher years didn’t exactly end on a high, did they?
