Have you watched those programmes where restaurants ask Gordon Ramsay to come and sort them out? When he tells them they’re rubbish (I paraphrase), that their chef should be sacked and they shouldn’t leave rotting food in the fridge, most take umbrage and carry on regardless.

So maybe we shouldn’t be surprised if the government ignores a report that tells it things about Brexit many of its members don’t want to hear. You get the impression, though, from this week’s interview that if Messrs IDS, Gove or Davies had a nasty diagnosis from their hospital consultant, they’d ignore it and ask their mate down the pub for a second opinion.
