Every week a financial journalist asks a fund manager the questions we advisers are asked most days: Will the stockmarket keep going up? If not, when will it come down? The fund manager will then take long time to say, well, maybe it will, maybe it won’t; but you should still invest in my fund. Of course, they’re paid a lot more than most of us and so are keen not to lose their jobs by having an opinion. But they do make both footballers and F1 drivers sound like Nigel Farage down the pub after a couple of pints…
