I hate to say ‘I told you so’ but, well, I did. Financial services companies with huge IT departments, loads of contractors and plenty of time for lots of meetings find it impossible to do something as straightforward (you’d think) as sending statements electronically instead of by post or providing online valuations. Government has an appalling track record in organising tech, or even choosing companies who can do it for them. Was it ever likely they could deliver a ‘world-beating app’ to work on every mobile ‘phone system in six weeks? About as likely as a Brexit deal by 31st December…
