Few things make you feel older than when events that your kids are studying in history lessons events that happened when you were older than them. More mature readers may remember the Barber Boom, when the eponymous Tory chancellor Anthony B. pumped in £billions which we didn’t have to make the economy boom before the 1974 election. They lost, and Labour inherited 24% inflation. My prediction? Watch history repeat itself as another Tory chancellor no-one will remember does the same sometime next year, to make Brexit seem OK.
