If you’re arranging a social gathering these days, you have to carefully consider the mix of people you invite. Sitting a hardened Leaver next to a passionate Remainer can be dynamite as, however hard you try, the conversation will eventually gravitate to the ‘B’ word. I’ve heard of friends going skiing who’ve taken separate chairlifts for the last week of the hols following heated aprés ski arguments and dinner parties that have ended in fisticuffs. The positive spin is, I guess, that we’re no longer divided as a nation by colour, political party or religion, as ‘in’ or ‘out’ views cross all divides. So in a way, Brexit has brought us together. Great.
