Surely it’s inevitable that our recycling bins will never be properly sorted. It makes us feel great that we’re not cheating that much and only putting stuff that could be recycled in the landfill bin the night before when we think we can get away with it. Alas and sorry, but we’ll no more solve the world’s plastic and other waste problems like this than we’ll get the homeless off our streets by buying a conscience-salving ‘Big Issue’ every now and then. It’s going to take a lot more; and those that could do a lot more have other things on their tiny minds at the mo.
