I wouldn’t want to be accused of any Remainer bias, here. Perish the thought. So let’s stick to the facts. Liam Fox, our erstwhile Trade Minister, said in 2017 that ‘up to 40 trade deals’ would be ready to go in force ‘one second after we leave the EU’. So far we have four. with Switzerland (incorporating Liechtenstein, you’ll be glad to hear), Mauritius (including the Seychelles and Madagascar, thank goodness), and Chile. Assuming he’s having Sunday’s off, he needs to sign up one per day between now and 29th March. And I thought I was the great time optimist.
