“The commuter is an English archetype – but for how much longer?”

My daughter went back to college on Monday. She catches a train to Oxford which goes on to Paddington, and we’re used to queuing just to get into the overflowing station carpark for drop off. The carpark has 187 spaces (thanks, Google); there’s been an average of 11 cars there each morning this week, at peak commuting time. I haven’t tried driving in yet. Maybe everyone’s going by car or bike now; although before All This, a 30 minute journey became 90 if you set off at 7am or later. I think the signs are that this could be the start of a better, or at least different life for many. Enjoy and embrace. I’d say
