My wife will tell you (and frequently tells me) that I’m rarely right about anything. This time I’m delighted to have been wrong. Almost exactly a year ago, I predicted that we’d be stuck with both Boris and Trump until 2024 and the first part of my double romped home in December. On Wednesday, it looked as if Psychic Phil may have struck again as DT was ahead and claiming victory. But, halleluia, he’s going (although not yet quite gone). So. Four years to be proven wrong about Boris, too. Here’s hoping.

Are workers working from home more or less productive than those catching the 7.02am to London Bridge every day? ‘Probably sitting at home in their bleedin’ jim-jams’, said someone recently of a less-than-helpful call centre employee, the assumption being that, were they surrounded by colleagues and with a manager cracking the whip, he or she would have sorted his energy bill more efficiently.
