The hotel, restaurant or shop owners who put themselves forward for those TV shows where an expert comes in and tells them their business is rubbish are usually shocked and completely ignore the advice they’ve asked for; just as most companies only want the ‘management consultants’ to to whom they pay a fortune to tell them what they want to hear.
The government is no different. It asks the National Audit Office to look at the complete dogs’ breakfast that is the new Universal Credit System, they tell them it’s not working and will end up costing more than the old mess of benefits; and, of course, the government will ignore them and carry on regardless.
