Another perennial tabloid and politicians’ favourite is the ‘exams are much easier than they were in my day and the snowflakes have it too easy’ headline. If, as a parent or grandparent, you’ve tried to help your snowflakes with even pre-GCSE homework, you’ll know what a load of twoddle that is. I’m happy to admit that all levels of exams are much harder now than they were in my day and our expectations of both students, schools and universities have increased exponentially (long word, parents ask your kids).
