The word from those who should know over there is that we’ll keep both the customs union and freedom of movement which, if it comes to pass, has to be better than a hard one. It will, however, hack off both Remainers, who’ll say ‘what was the point, we may as well have stayed in’ and Brexiteers, who’ll say ‘what was the point, we may as well have stayed in’. So at least they’ll agree on something.
