Because inflation\u2019s on the up? But that\u2019s not because we\u2019re all feeling flush and spending more, otherwise House of Fraser wouldn\u2019t be about to go bust. The plummeted \u00a3 means everything we import (ie nearly everything we buy) is more expensive.<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-p1\">OK, because unemployment\u2019s low and wages might go up? No. Do you know anyone who\u2019s tried to sign on recently? Most give up and<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>get a \u2018gig economy,\u2019 self-employed job paying less than the minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-p1\">No, the real reason is so that rates can be cut again next year to try to avoid the possibly-now-inevitable no-deal recession. It\u2019s called \u2018wriggle room\u2019.
