Do you have one of those new-fangled passports that supposedly let you fast track the immigration queues? Mine seems to work every other time and like many others, I end up trooping to the back of the line to wait for a real person to check it. And most other countries’ airports don’t have the necessary fancy machines.
So it really credible that ‘smart technology’ can work out which bits of the cargo in the trailer which huge lorry has come from which country and where it’s going and charge the right tarrifs? Yes, I’m a self-confessed remoaner who wants to stay in the Customs Union; but is there really any other option?
