I bought a sofa from Habitat in the 1980s. They guy in the shop swore blind that it would go with my carpet, not show red wine stains and still look cool when red braces for boys, big shoulders for girls and handbags for prime ministers had gone out of fashion. He, like many currently in the news, was a lying git. I want my money back. I won’t get it. If only I’d taken out a savings plan instead. How naive was I?

Here’s the flip side. Should a business not have the right to choose whom it serves? If you as a client, or more likely potential client, rub us up the wrong way, are a declared anti-vaxxer or support the barges, can we not, as a business, say ‘Be Gone’?
