An overheard conversation waiting for takeaway coffee this morning. The speaker, large, male, 70-something with small dog: “Do you know, 100,000 died on the first day of the Somme, 80,000 have died of Covid in a year and they tell us it’s a disaster. Like livin’ in a police state, this is. And a doctor told a mate of mine that more are gettin’ ill from the vaccine than the virus, so I’m not goin’ near it…’ If he’d moved on to Brexit (which he probably would have done), I’d have had to intervene. As it was, I stayed a True Brit, tightened my mask and quietly despaired. No wonder we’re in such a mess.

Here’s the flip side. Should a business not have the right to choose whom it serves? If you as a client, or more likely potential client, rub us up the wrong way, are a declared anti-vaxxer or support the barges, can we not, as a business, say ‘Be Gone’?
