It’s the kids/students I feel sorry for in all this. If they do well this year, it’s ‘grade inflation’, teacher marks are a soft touch, exams are the only way. And those who haven’t done so well must feel even worse, if this was supposedly an easy year. Let’s face it, if you’re good at exams, you can get away with murder for the rest of the time and cram. If you’re not, it’s hell however hard you work. Although there were teachers I would definitely not have wanted to assess me, it has to be a better way. Just get rid of all those targets and league tables; then they’ll have no reason to ‘inflate’ anyone’s grade.

Here’s the flip side. Should a business not have the right to choose whom it serves? If you as a client, or more likely potential client, rub us up the wrong way, are a declared anti-vaxxer or support the barges, can we not, as a business, say ‘Be Gone’?
