We’ll usually ask if you have lasting powers of attorney in place, and if not, recommend you see a solicitor to sort them. Those who’ve had to use them for parents or relatives are usually on the case. More so anyone who’s had to wade through the legal process for someone who needs but doesn’t have them. It’s complicated, takes ages and can be both expensive and upsetting. You can DIY them yourself online, but most who start get bogged down and either never finish, or stop at the final stage of getting them registered. Well, we don’t need them yet, do we? Let’s hope not. But who knows? So anything which makes it easier would be great.
