Half-empty, we’re heading back to the ‘70s, oil price soaring, unions striking for higher wages, recession on the way and a new woman in power who says she can sort it all out. Half-full, shortages of everything pushed up prices after the war especially in America, but their government wisely supported industry, investment boomed and the Golden 50s’ emerged. And were followed by Swinging London and Peace and Love, man, with which we could all do at the moment. One things for sure, it’s still, for better or worse, what happens in the US which is most important for your investments and all of our pockets. Remember one of Boris’s parting, final PMQ shots to his successor was ‘stay close to the Americans’…
