LD2 is being treated very differently by many. Just as in a 30 mph zone, a few drive at 29mph, most at 35, pushing the limits is becoming the norm. Garden centres are, for some reason, now considered ‘essential’ and allowed to open. In Burford’s, you have to seek out the one or two plants they still sell by wading or wandering through its book/interior/art/clothing,/gift/wine etc. departments, all of which were heaving in normal run-up-to-Christmas mode last weekend. All other book/interior/art/clothing/gift/wine shops within half a mile have to stay closed or be fined. It’s a funny old world. Stay safe, everyone.

Are workers working from home more or less productive than those catching the 7.02am to London Bridge every day? ‘Probably sitting at home in their bleedin’ jim-jams’, said someone recently of a less-than-helpful call centre employee, the assumption being that, were they surrounded by colleagues and with a manager cracking the whip, he or she would have sorted his energy bill more efficiently.
