It’s all very well for BT’s bosses to say that their job-cuts are all in ‘back-room and middle management’ roles. That’s no comfort if you’re a middle manager working in a back room somewhere. And, if you’ve ever had the misfortune to have to ‘phone (irony?) BT to get anything done, it’s the people in the back rooms and their supervisors (for whom you inevitably have to shout in frustration) who are most needed. Makes you pine for the halcyon days of the GPO (kid’s etc).
