“US virus deaths could reach 70,000: Trump”

Many leaders have talked about the fight against the virus as a war. Boris would have loved’ I’m sure to include a Churchillian ‘the end of the beginning’ in his comeback speech on Monday but thankfully resisted. 58,220 Americans were killed in Vietnam in the cause of freedom from communist oppression. Was it worth it? Of course not.  By the end of this week, 60,000 or more will have died in the US from C19; because their leaders (plural, as many are to blame) have been more dedicated to freedom and the American Way than to saving lives. Let’s hope ours resist the temptation to put money and supposed popularity before lives.

“The working-from-home illusion fades”

Are workers working from home more or less productive than those catching the 7.02am to London Bridge every day? ‘Probably sitting at home in their bleedin’ jim-jams’, said someone recently of a less-than-helpful call centre employee, the assumption being that, were they surrounded by colleagues and with a manager cracking the whip, he or she would have sorted his energy bill more efficiently.
