A Brit RomCom, so halfway there already for me. What’s not to love about What’s Love Got To Do With It? Well, potentially quite a bit, I guess. Lily James is a documentary film maker (I know) desperate for a new subject. She decides to follow the doctor son of her Mum’s (Emma Thomson on full blast) Asian neighbours on his journey to an arranged marriage. They’ve known one another since childhood and you could pretty easily start at the end and work backwards after the first ten minutes. But none of that matters as Lily and Emma are charming and hilarious, as is the rest of the film and, well, just suspend disbelief and enjoy the trip (to Pakistan and back). Love really does conquer everything (that’s another song, I think?), so don’t be pompous and enjoy. I certainly did.
