Speaking of inappropriate and/or embarrassing speeches, there are certain rules which should be obeyed at all times, whether you’re the Leader of the Free World speaking to the World or a financial services person presenting to an audience of financial advisers of which I was a member at a conference this week. 1) If you’re not a natural comedian, it’s fine to be serious 2) If you want to be funny, remember it’s not the 1970s and 3) Remember, women make up 50% of the population, have the vote and are often not just your secretary. Sometimes, I despair; as I cringe with embarrassment.

Here’s the flip side. Should a business not have the right to choose whom it serves? If you as a client, or more likely potential client, rub us up the wrong way, are a declared anti-vaxxer or support the barges, can we not, as a business, say ‘Be Gone’?
