To try to stop bankers getting away with all the stuff they got away with 10 years or more ago the FCA have introduced, a tad belatedly, their Senior Managers Regime. The idea is to make company bosses accountable for everything their underlings do. The spin off is that, if I take on an adviser, they don’t have to be vetted or registered with the FCA, it’s up to me to make sure they’re kosher. So you just have to take my word for it and can’t check the FCA register, as you could before, as everyone but we bosses has now been removed from it. Genius.
