As has been the case for the last forty years or so, lots of noise made about ditching high rate tax relief on pensions, lots of panic contributions made just in case, great business for all concerned, nothing happens in the end. It looks as though the whole issue is being back-burnered, or at least kicked down the road (sorry, two idioms in one sentence, training to be Boris) for the next chancellor and/or government to confront. Or not, as the effects would be keenly felt by both senior civil servants and NHS consultants. And perhaps more than a few MPs.
