The very, very, rich are as, if not more difficult to pin down and tax as the Amabucks of this world. It was ever thus. Every rock megastar of the 70’s biog tells of them scarpering to LA or buying big houses in France when the then Labour gov. vowed to tax them ‘until the pips squeak’; which, they decided, would happen at 98% of their income. The top ten in the recent Sunday Times Rich List could, mob-handedly, comfortably fund the vaccination of all of Brazil and India, and that excludes, of course, the illegally rich.
