‘How much do I need in my pension to be able to retire?’ we’re often asked. ‘I’ve heard you need to have at least £1m. So I’ve got no chance!’ Some of this is spurred by some (I’d say) misleading advertising by a company which has had problems with misleading advertising; and it’s really not helpful, as the answer is, of course, it all depends. For some, £1m won’t be nearly enough. For others, for instance those without, or not bothered about leaving anything to, families, it could be way more than enough. And it’s not just your pension or pensions which can provide an income and holiday funds, and you may not retire in one go and things may change as life goes on and you get older, and…in other words, everyone’s different, one person’s good is another’s bad. If you want to know, we think we’re good at this stuff. So please talk to us.
