If you mentioned ethical sustainable investments to anyone in this business a year or two ago, they’d say limited markets, is it worth it for a few yoghurt-weaving sandal-wearers, clients just want performance and other unaware stuff. Now ethical, or at least its lighter-weight cousin ESG (environmental social governance, we love an acronym), is everywhere, to the extent that our trade press is overloaded and weary with and of it, with not a beardy, folky adviser, journo or fund manager in sight. Which has, I guess, to be a good thing.
