Here’s A Tale of Two T&Cs (sic). Brain surgeon Henry Marsh, in his excellent autobiography ‘Do No Harm’ says that he has personally given consent forms to thousands of patients about to have their skulls opened and not one of them has read or asked about what they’re signing. By contrast my wife opened a business account with Santander last week and had to sit for an hour while the terms and conditions were read to her, and her understanding was confirmed at the end of each paragraph. She said she felt she needed brain surgery by the time she’d actually signed. But what a load of nonsense.
