For the 40th straight year, there’s a rumour that high rate tax relief for pensions may go. So here’s the question. Is that more or less likely to happen in Saj-less Budget? He was still keen on Osborne’s fantasy of ‘balancing the books’. Assuming the new chancellor (me, neither) is bound to do Boris and Dom’s will, ‘loosening the pursestrings’, will he that bothered about high-earner bashing? Who knows. Make your payments now, 40% taxpayers.
